Joseph Tully, Attorney
Joseph Tully has over ten years experience practicing criminal law in California and has been certified as a Criminal Law Specialist* by the California Board of Legal Specialization.
Mr. Tully began his career as a deputy public defender in the misdemeanor unit of the Fresno County Office of the Public Defender. In that unit, he defended many accused at trial and quickly gained a reputation for excellence in litigation. As a result, Mr. Tully was promoted to the felony trial team after only eight months at the office.
In 2001, Mr. Tully and Jack Weiss left the public defender’s office to form Tully & Weiss Attorneys at Law in the Bay Area. Since the establishment of Tully & Weiss, Mr. Tully has successfully represented individuals, in both State and Federal Court, accused of a wide variety of criminal charges, including domestic violence, DUIs, drug possession and sales, sexual assault and first degree murder. Mr. Tully has represented many high profile clients with discretion and professional sensitivity. In addition to representing private client, Mr. Tully is also a member of the Conflict Panel in Contra Costa County, representing indigent defendants in cases where the public defender has a conflict of interest.
Additionally, Mr. Tully is active in the Contra Costa Bar Association where he recently began a tenure as the Vice Chair of the Criminal Law Section. He had previously served as the secretary of the Criminal Law Section.
Mr. Tully received his juris doctor from Golden Gate University School of Law where he served on the Law Review. He received his Bachelors of Arts from University of California, Davis in Political Science. Mr. Tully is admitted to practice law in all state courts in California.
* To receive the Criminal Law Specialist Certification, attorneys "must have taken and passed a written examination in their specialty field, demonstrated a high level of experience in the field, fulfilled ongoing education requirements, and been favorably evaluated by other attorneys and judges familiar with their work."

Jack Weiss, Attorney
Jack Weiss has practiced criminal law in California for over twenty years. Jack served ten years as a deputy public defender in the Fresno County Office of the Public Defender. While there, he worked thousands of criminal cases and earned a reputation as one of the town’s top criminal defense trial lawyers – getting “Not Guilty” verdicts in ‘impossible’ murder cases.
Retiring from Fresno County and back in the Bay Area, Jack joined Joseph Tully in a criminal defense law firm - Tully & Weiss, Attorneys at Law. The firm’s mission is to offer clients the very highest level of criminal defense possible.
Mr. Weiss focuses his practice on representing those accused of homicide and other major crimes. In 2009, he set free a client charged with first-degree murder case by winning a “Not Guilty” jury verdict. In 2010, he won “Not Guilty” verdicts from a jury on four counts of murder in a single case.

Sarah Albano, Legal Assistant
Sarah Albano has been a legal assistant and office manager at the Martinez location of Tully & Weiss Attorneys at Law since 2007. Ms. Albano is a key member of the Tully & Weiss team, responsible for everything from running the office and scheduling client appointments to making sure court documents are complete and timely filed. Ms. Albano received her Bachelor of Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, majoring in City and Regional Planning.
